Founders Day 2026 – Celebrating 53 Years of Building in Quincy
On February 27th, we gathered nearly 100 employees, vendors, and subcontractors at the Holiday Inn in Quincy to celebrate 53 years of Dale Koontz Builder. Founders Day has become one of our favorite traditions — a morning to reflect on where we’ve been and look ahead to where we’re going as a home builder and remodeling contractor in the Quincy area.

In 2025, our team completed nearly 70 projects — including 7 custom homes, 2 apartment buildings (8 units total), whole-home renovations, kitchens, bathrooms, outdoor projects, and numerous exterior and specialty improvements. From new construction in Quincy to multifamily development in Hannibal, we’re grateful for the continued trust our community places in us.
We also recognized Danny Priebe Custom Drywall and Painting as our 2026 Partner of the Year — a partner who exemplifies our core values of integrity, professionalism, craftsmanship, and service.

We also shared insights from the 2026 International Builders’ Show and how national trends impact homeowners here in Quincy and the surrounding area.
The housing outlook suggests mortgage rates will likely remain in the 6–7% range this year, and affordability continues to be a challenge nationwide. As a result, remodeling remains strong — especially among homeowners who have low existing mortgage rates and choose to improve rather than move. We’re seeing that firsthand in the growing demand for kitchen remodels, bathroom renovations, additions, and six-figure whole-home updates.
Another major theme at IBS was practical use of technology to improve efficiency — from bid comparisons to documentation workflows. One message that stood out most was “People Over Process.” We’re in the people business. Curiosity. Commonality. Courtesy. Those principles matter just as much as materials, timelines, and budgets — and they guide how we approach every custom home and remodel we build.
Looking Ahead to 2026
As we move into 2026, we’re excited to complete additional apartment units in Hannibal, finish two large custom home projects we’re already underway with, and begin several significant remodeling projects already scheduled for this spring. New home inquiries are picking up, and we’re optimistic about the year ahead.
